Wisdom

LORD's Day Worship - March 1, 2020
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:22-23) I in them, and thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one…(John 17:23) God is love If God did not love us...the devil and evil would destroy us totally That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:6-8) Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecc 4:9-12) Wisdom: don’t be alone Wisdom: fellowship, brotherhood, sisterhood Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished. (Ecc 4:13) This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: there was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. (Ecc 9:13-15) Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (Prov 4:7) Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. (Ecc 9:16-17) I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. (Matt 11:25) Wisdom: it is in quiet, where you can get understanding Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. (Ecc 9:18) Knowledge leading to wisdom: 1) Don't be foolish 2) Don't be taken in by the unprofitable things 3) Flee from things that have no value to your soul The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. (Prov 3:19) By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. (Prov 3:20) My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: (Prov 3:21) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Titus 1:7) …judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come… (1 Cor 4:5) In every thing give thanks…(1 Thess 5:18) Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thess 5:22) So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. (Prov 3:22-24) My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: (Prov 6:20-23) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105) Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. (Matt 25:1-7) Wisdom: a person who doesn’t believe, won’t do They all had lamps But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22) Wisdom: be ready He's coming again so soon Don't let Him catch you with your works undone Be ready when He comes Don't let Him catch you with a lying tongue He's coming again so soon Love one another Love is essential
