And GOD spake all these words, saying, I AM the LORD thy GOD, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before ME. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy GOD AM a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate ME; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love ME, and keep MY commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy GOD in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh HIS name in vain. (Exodus 20:1-7)

And I have given you a land for which ye did not labor, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve HIM in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:13-15)

The woman saith unto HIM, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. JESUS saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. JESUS said unto her, thou hast well said, I have no husband:  for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto HIM, Sir, I perceive that THOU art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and YE say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. JESUS saith unto her, Woman, believe ME, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship THE FATHER. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the FATHER in spirit and in truth: for the FATHER seeketh such to worship HIM. GOD IS a SPIRIT: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth. (John 4:15-24)

No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. (Matthew 9:16-17)

This people draweth nigh unto ME with their mouth, and honoureth ME with their lips; but their heart is far from ME. But in vain they do worship ME, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. And HE called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. (Matthew 15:8-11)

Forever, O LORD, THY word is settled in heaven. THY faithfulness is unto all generations: THOU hast established the earth, and it abideth. (Psalms 119:89-90)
